CHALLENGE
To help create Australia’s first national hub on elder abuse – Compass

SOLUTION
In October 2019 Leading Hand Design was appointed as the Editor and Digital Producer of Compass.info – a national hub for guiding action on elder abuse. We were all suitably thrilled to be involved with this very important national project.

Working with the our long-time collaborator Bev Lange at Elder Abuse Action Australia – and a small project team at Wunderman Thompson – we set out to create a highly valuable asset for all Australians.

Over the last months we have been working diligently to add service providers and resources to Compass on a range of elder abuse issues for multiple target audiences and right across Australia.

We appointed a new member of the Compass team, Claire Cavalan, in early 2021 to take up the role of Digital and Content Coordinator. Claire has been a terrific addition to our team in Surry Hills. Her dedication, enthusiasm and intellect have been instrumental in improving the performance of the website, to building key new relationships and to conceiving our Guest Editor program.

In June we launched a number of upgrades to the Compass website and rolled out our first Guest Editor Campaign that featured Dr Catherine Barrett who inspired us to consider the subject of the sexual abuse of older women. Her insights and experience were invaluable and along with Caroline Baum, Yumi Lee and Kerrin Bradfield we ran a highly successful live webinar in conjunction with launching our social media channels.

All the while we’ve been planning and testing and striving to make Compass.info the best it can be.

It’s been a team effort and has been very rewarding to work on a project we all feel so passionate about.
